These textiles were woven in collaboration with non-profit, Mosqoy, who works closely with weaving cooperatives Munay Urpi, of Huaran, Perú, and Asociación de Tejedores Tradicionales Laraypas Indígenas de Amaru, of Amaru, Perú.
These are traditional belts, or chompi, traditionally worn by women in the Apurimac region. These belts have been ethically sourced from families in the region, and we up-cycle them to use as straps on our backpacks! You will notice that the iconography is incredibly intricate, and entirely different from the traditional textiles woven in Cusco. It's important to note that the majority of chompi we source do not use natural dyes. If you want to see more options, contact us!
